The ASHIC Foundation, started by Mrs Salma Choudhury who lost her toddler son to cancer, provides a shelter for cancer-stricken children and their parents who travel from rural parts of Bangladesh to Dhaka for treatment. The journey, often by public bus and train, is long and grueling. The Foundation hopes to provide a respite and support these families with a community, such that they will find strength to shoulder the heavy responsibility of caring for their sick children.
